Surgical Mesh

Injured After Receiving a Surgical Mesh or Transvaginal Mesh Implant?

Surgeries to treat pelvic organ prolapse, hernias and bladder stress often involve the use of surgical mesh. This mesh is generally used to strengthen weakened tissue in certain areas of the body after injury or pregnancy. Surgeries using surgical mesh patches and systems are meant to allow patients to maintain the same quality of life they had before they were injured.

But that is not always the case because sometimes the surgical mesh is poorly made or designed. A rising number of patients who have received transvaginal surgical mesh, hernia repair patches or sling systems are reporting painful medical complications.

If you or a loved one has received surgical mesh and is experiencing increased pain and discomfort, the implant may be defective. We can help. At Trolman, Glaser & Lichtman, P.C., our attorneys will represent patients who have been harmed by surgical mesh products. We work with an experienced team in bringing product liability lawsuits in courts throughout New York State. Our medical device injury lawyers are equipped to achieve the best possible results in these matters, including favorable settlements and jury verdicts for injury victims and their families. We fight, you win.

How Do You Know if You Have a Surgical Mesh Injury?

In addition to general increased pain, symptoms of a transvaginal surgical mesh injury include protrusion of the mesh, infection, bleeding, pain during intercourse and vaginal scarring or shrinking. Symptoms of hernia and other surgical mesh injuries include unexplained or persistent abdominal pain, tenderness at the implant site and fever.
